We recently had a chance
to sit down with Marco Mendoza, bassist of Soul SirkUS. Marco
has seen it all, and done it all as a member of White Snake, Thin
Lizzy, as well as playing with Ted Nugent. It was great to sit
and talk with Marco about his new band, Soul SirkUS. We got to
talk to Marco before their show at the Somerville Theatre in Boston.
a Listen* as we talk about about their debut CD,
finding the time for a new band, rock music, and starting back
at the beginning. *Windows Media Player 9 is needed to listen

When the buzz first started about the band, it contained Sammy
Hagar & Michael Anthony (Van Halen). How did the "new"
version of the group get put together?
Original drummer Dean Castranova (Journey) left the group and
was replaced by Virgil Donati. How did that happen?
Why go back in and rerecord the CD with Virgil on the kit, when
it was already done?
It is only the 4th or 5th show for you guys, are you still finding
your places live?
The thing that struck me about World Play, is the big guitar sounds
Jeff, Virgil, Neil, and you are all pretty much underrateed players
despite being around for so many years. Is it fun flying under
You look at the success of Motley Crue's reunion tour, is it the
industry that is finally starting to come back around to that
big guitar sound?
What are your thoughts on the tape trading community and people
trading your live shows?
European market seems to favor the melodic, guitar driven rock
more than American's do. Why is that?
I want to thank Marco and the guys of Soul SirkUS for taking
the time to talk with me. It was great getting a chance to chat
before the show and they really blow you away live. These guys
are all MONSTERS live. We look forward to when Soul SirkUS returns
to Boston Keep your eye up for when they come to your town.
