THE DAN BAND Premieres “Making Love Out Of Nothing At All” at The A.V. Club

Tuesday, June 30th, 2015

After being asked daily to perform at weddings all over the world, Dan Finnerty decided it was time to give back and let people spice up their receptions with The Dan Band’s The Wedding Album, set to release on July 10th via Comedy Dynamics.

The Dan Band premiered their recording of Air Supply’s “Making Love Out Of Nothing At All” (featuring Nicole Scherzinger) at The A.V. Club, who said “A schmaltzy take on an already sappy song, The Dan Band’s version of ‘Making Love Out Of Nothing At All,’ which features the aforementioned Scherzinger, really has to be heard to be believed.”

Listen to the track at The A.V. Club:

Featuring additional collaborations with Pat Monahan (Train), Rob Thomas (Matchbox 20), comedian Bridget Everett (Inside Amy Schumer), and Jeremy Ruzumna (Fitz And The Tantrums), The Wedding Album marks The Dan Band’s third full-length release, and their first release on Comedy Dynamics.

Best known for playing irreverent wedding singer in The Hangover and Old School, Finnerty and his Dan Band get countless requests from prospective brides and grooms to play their weddings. They’ve been offered everything from private jets to free beer and pizza, but can’t possibly eat that much pizza. So they came up with a solution – an album of wedding songs you can play at your nuptials that are strong enough for Dan Band fans, but subtle enough to slip by your grandma.

Appropriately named The Wedding Album, the record features covers of cherished classics done with The Dan Band’s inappropriate f-bomb flair, as well as brand new original material. Covers include a profane take on Air Supply’s “Making Love Out Of Nothing At All,” Beyonce’s “Drunk in Love,” plus a medley of R. Kelly’s “Bump N’ Grind” and Boyz II Men’s “I’ll Make Love to You.” The Wedding Album also features a new jam of 50 Cent’s “Candy Shop” (as performed by The Dan Band in The Hangover, watch HERE) and a remix of Bonnie Tyler’s “Total Eclipse of the Heart” (as performed by The Dan Band in Old School, watch HERE).

What started as a drunken joke for Finnerty singing “I Am Woman” at a karaoke bar has spiraled out of control into The Dan Band – a cult phenomenon that has garnered rave reviews from The New York Times, The L.A. Times, Rolling Stone, Variety among others, and prompted Entertainment Weekly to dub it “The hottest ticket in Hollywood.”

The Dan Band has appeared on numerous shows including The Tonight Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Ellen, The Late Late Show, Last Call with Carson Daly, Last Comic Standing, The Guys Choice Awards and caught the attention of Steven Spielberg, who signed on to executive produce Dan’s one hour concert special “The Dan Band: I Am Woman,” directed by McG.

The Dan Band is on tour now, playing shows in Seattle, New York, San Antonio, Houston, and Los Angeles.

The Wedding Album is out July 10th via Comedy Dynamics, pre-order at Amazon

MIKE GORDON Spring Tour Begins This Friday

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2015

Phish bassist Mike Gordon hits the road this week behind last year’s acclaimed album Overstep. The tour begins this Friday, June 5 at The Music Hall in Charleston, SC and runs through Atlanta, GA, St. Louis, MO, Chicago, IL, Indianapolis, IN and more before concluding on June 28 at Union Transfer in Philadelphia, PA. The full list of tour dates is below.

Mike will be bringing along Scott Murawski (guitar), Craig Myers (percussion), Robert Walter (keyboards) and John Kimock (drums).

Wired Magazine came out to a show on his tour last year to experience and talk about the new visual, audio and interactive tech-ification that will be a part of this June run.

“I like the idea of breaking down boundaries,” Gordon says. Of the theatrics and curiosities onstage on the Overstep tour, the centerpiece is an interactive piano-like instrument spanning the lip of the stage. At certain points during the show, touch-sensitive panels illuminate; by tapping on them, audience members trigger sounds and jam with the band as it plays. That’s just one piece of the big wacky puzzle. To experience it for yourself, catch one of the shows on this tour.

Mike Gordon tour dates:
6/5 – The Music Hall – Charleston, SC

PANDORA Presents: MUMFORD & SONS Live At Merriweather Post Pavilion

Monday, June 1st, 2015

Pandora (NYSE: P), the leading internet radio service, has partnered with Mumford & Sons and Glassnote Records to livestream the band’s sold out Merriweather Post Pavilion show on Wednesday, June 10 at 9 PM EST.

In anticipation of the livestream, Mumford & Sons has curated a digital mixtape for Pandora listeners, which is available now via the special Mumford & Sons Live Pandora station: http://pdora.co/mumfordandsonslive. Mumford & Sons’ latest album Wilder Mind recently hit #1 on the Billboard charts, and the first single off the set reached #1 on both the Alternative Songs and Adult Alternative Songs chart.

Wilder Mind follows the 2012 release of Mumford & Sons’ sophomore album, 2012’s Grammy-winning Babel, the follow-up to their 2009 debut album, Sigh No More.

Mumford & Sons will travel coast-to-coast in the US and Canada this summer in support of Wilder Mind, including headline shows in Brooklyn and Chicago, appearances at Bonnaroo, Outside Lands, Squamish and their own Gentlemen of the Road Stopovers. The band recently performed songs off the new record on Saturday Night Live, CBS’ Late Show with David Letterman and on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

The Merriweather Post Pavilion show is a unique opportunity for Pandora listeners to experience Grammy-winning Mumford & Sons’ widely praised live performances, regardless of where they are. This show is the latest example of the ongoing efforts by Pandora to connect its artists and listeners, having released its Artist Marketing Platform (AMP)late last year.

“Mumford & Sons are obviously one of the top bands in the world, and they have managed to achieve this status while maintaining an intimate bond with their audience,” said Lars Murray, senior vice president of Pandora’s Music Maker Group. “Pandora’s mission is to be the leading connector of artists and listeners, and we are elated to be working with the band and their label, Glassnote, to amplify this event to a national audience.”
